Though Illinois may be permissive when it comes to medical marijuana and women controlling their own reproductive health, there is one thing they will not stand for: DEEZ NUTS.

Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias decided to offer his own DMV-themed take on yearly compilations this week, offering his constituents a glimpse at a handful of the 300 personalized license plates that were rejected in 2023.

“Some of the rejected license plates submitted for approval for this year included ‘EATBUTT,’ ‘B0NER’ … ‘WHOOPASS,’ ‘DEEZ NUTS,’ ‘POOPSIE’ and ‘IOWASUX,’ he began a now-viral clip first aired on local Chicago news outlet, WGN9, who censored one of the submissions presumably for profanity.

“Clever is too generous a word, although some did make me laugh,” he said, prompting giggles from the anchors.

So take it from these almost vanity plates — if you’re trying to pull one over on the state of Illinois, make sure your s—tposty suggestion is no more than five (5) years old.
