Seif Eldin Mustafa was trying to get the attention of his estranged wife and so he hijacked a plane and flew it to the island where she lives.

The flight departed from Alexandria and was forced to land on Cyprus, an island in the Mediterranean. A statement from Egypt's civil aviation ministry said 26 foreign passengers were on board, including eight Americans, four Britons, four Dutch citizens, two Belgians, two Greeks, a French national, an Italian and a Syrian. I know that sounds like the beginning of a joke but to the people onboard it turned out to be a huge relief when their hijacker only wanted to reconnect with his wife.

Authorities have said that the man was not affiliated with any terrorist groups and that the incident was not motivated by terror but rather by love. One official was quoted saying that, “there is always a woman involved” when referring to the crazy attempt by the hijacker whose name is, Seif Eldin Mustafa. Here he is seen taking photos with some of the passengers onboard the hijacked plane.

Even though Egyptian leaders and heads of state around the world are relieved that the event turned out to be little more than an estranged man's attempt at reaching his wife, the question of how such a fake device made its way onto a commercial airplane has risen many questions about the safety of Egyptian airports.

Here the Hijacker can be seen walking away from the airplane. In the foreground you can see two police officers with their sights on the hijacker. Seif Eldin Mustafa has been arrested and all of the passengers have been escorted to safety. And I can't help but wonder what his wife thinks of all this. Maybe pulling this kind of shit is what made her decide to live on an island in the Mediterainian far away from him. Just a thought.
