Sitcoms have used neighbor characters as a narrative crutch for decades. Take a character that's slightly dumber than your already idiotic protagonist, give them an utterly ridiculous name, and you're golden.
1
Boy Meets World - Mr. Feeney: This character is startlingly well loved. A sect of Feenetics even get inked with his visage to show their devotion.
2
Wonder Years - Winnie Cooper: Fuck Yeah Winnie Cooper!
3
Home Improvement - Wilson: Wilson was Tim Allen's know-it-all next door neighbor. In the show we never got to see his face, but thanks to CSI's Rotate and Enhance, I've been able to discover what he actually looked like.
4
Small Wonder - Harriet Brindle: In this show, a scientist capable of making PERFECTLY lifelike androids, uses his talent to make a little girl in a raggedy ann outfit :- Harriet was the nosy neighbor girl with a creepy red afro pigtails combo, and her mom was the secretary from Ferris Bueller.
5
Family Ties - Irwin Irwin Skippy Handelman: Skippy was the nerdy next door neighbor who was obsessed with MalloryTo be fair, she was a total babe. He became a fat comedian without Parkinson's.
6
Martin - Shenehneh: Because I couldn't choose.
7
Martin - Shenehneh: Before there was Tyler Perry, there was Martin Lawrence.
8
Clarissa Explains it All - Sam: Sam lived next door and had a weird guitar riff that played every time he climbed through the window. Yes, this is how all kids dressed at that time.
9
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air - Ronald Reagan: Big Ron lived next to the Banks family apparently
10
Family Guy - Quagmire: The Griffins have a few neighbors, but nympho airline pilot beats crippled cop.
11
Out Of This World - Uncle Beano: Beano wasn't really a neighbor, but he was goofy looking and had a funny name. Mostly I wanted to show the nudie pic of Evie Garland. Also, I found out Burt Reynolds played the voice of her dad!
12
Alf - Ochmoneks: The Ochmoneks lived next door to Alf, and were always snooping around and screwing up his snack time. Just as a reminder, Alf was a family show about a racist-alcoholic-pussy-chasing-alien-puppet.
13
My Two Dads - Ed Klawicki: My Two Dads was one of those weird attempts to talk about homosexuality without talking about homosexuality. For some reason Dick Butkus ran a coffee shop in the building.
14
Flintstones - Barney Rubble: kind of boring other than having the hotter cartoon wife, betty. I just liked the caption on this pic of the kooky Christian Baldwin brother from the live action flop.
15
Dinosaurs - Monica Devertebrae: Exterior shot.
16
Dinosaurs - Monica Devertebrae: I don't really remember this character, but I loved the show. Apparently she was an apatosaurus, so only her head would appear in the house, and it took 5 puppeteers to control the cables that moved her massive neck.
17
Mama's Family - Naomi: Naomi was the slutty next door neighbor that stole Mama's Boy Vint. I despised this show.
18
Seinfeld - Kramer: Once known as the funniest character on the best sitcom ever now only remembered as a racist.
19
Full House - Kimmy Gibbler: Somehow Kimmy Gibbler managed to be the most annoying character on a show with Dave Coulier and the Olsen Twins.
20
The Simpsons - Ned Flanders: Ned is the Simpon's Bible thumping neighbor. More importantly, my research led me to discover that http:sapphicspringfield.blogspot.com is a thing. Thank god for rule 34.
21
Doogie Howser MD - Vinnie: I never got why Vinnie had such a stronger accent than his best friend and neighbor? Was it an intellect thing? Random fact the actor that played Vinnie went to school with Matt Damon.
22
Family Matters - Urkel: Everyone remembers the nerdy genius's on screen antics, but did you know that when the show ended, years of drug abuse turned him into and overweight dancing midget? True story...
23
Step By Step - Cody: The pinnacle of sitcom dialog, with such catch-phrases as dude, dudesy, and shhh-yaAA!
24
AquaTeen Hunger Force - Carl Brutananadilewski: Meat-man... ever since my son was... never born, because I've never had consensual sex without money involved... I've always kind of looked at you as... a thing, that I could live next to... in accordance with state laws.
25
Growing Pains - Boner Stabone: Yes that was his name for reals. Also, his dad played Chekov in Star Trek And he killed himself in 2010 WAH waaaah.
