There's just no excuse for this kind of behavior from a judge.
Judge Alexis G. Krot of Michigan's Hamtramck 31st District was caught on tape berating a 72-year-old defendant who's been a cancer patient for the past three years over the state of his lawn. She quite literally tells him she'd put him in jail over the state of his shrubbery if the law allowed, because "the neighbors shouldn't have to look at that." It was allegedly those same neighbors she's so concerned about who reported the defendant, Burhan Chowdhury, back in August.
Towards the end of the video we also see Burhan's son, Shibbir, ask the judge if she heard that his father had been ill, to which she angrily snaps back "Have you seen the photo?!" Shibbir generally kept the house and lawn maintained for his father, but was visiting Bangladesh for three months earlier this year - which is when the citation happened. The lawn has since been cleaned and remains in good condition, but Burhan still had to appear in court to see if he'd be fined and hopefully appeal his case
